We are always looking for new people to join us in the 95th Rifles. Come, adorn a jacket of green, arm yourself with a British Infantry Rifle and take on the tyrant Napoleon.

Re-enacting is a wonderful hobby in which you can lose yourself in a time that was much simpler, leave your modern life and its stresses behind for the weekend, where the only thing you have to worry about is being told off by the Sergeant. This is an ideal activity for the whole family to take part in. We are a very friendly group, welcoming new members right from the start, eager to share our knowledge and experience and to encourage members to share their own skills and talents.

"Whilst in Dublin, I one day saw a corps of the 95th Rifles, and fell so in love with their smart, dashing and devil-may-care appearance, that nothing would serve me till I was a Rifleman Myself" - The Recollections of Rifleman Harris

The 2nd Battalion 95th Rifles portrays the life and times of Napoleonic soldier, seeking to recreate this by-gone age through living history. We pride ourselves on a high standard of authenticity in our drill, uniforms, equipment and in the camp which becomes the heart of unit. But the one thing we do not forget is that we are here to enjoy ourselves.

Requirements

To join the 2/95th Rifles we require that Riflemen be over the age of 18 years, fairly fit and be able to make their own way to events. You must attend a full weekend away with the unit at either a training session or event. This is so you get a chance to meet us and to experience re-enacting a Rifleman before making any commitment.

Uniform and Accoutrements

There's no easy way round this, it's going to cost a pretty penny or two. We don't expect that you turn up on the first day fully kitted up. We recommend that you buy your uniform and equipment in stages over the first couple of years. To help you whilst you are getting your kit together, the unit can lend you some of its spare uniforms etc.

Legal and Safety Matters

To be able to purchase and fire your Baker Rifle, you will need to apply for a Shotgun Certificate and Explosive License. These are obtained from your local Police Authority. We take the safety of our members and the public very seriously and require every Rifleman to take an annual Accreditation Test.

Women and Children

The women play a vital role in our living history encampment, and the same high standard is expected of their clothing and accoutrements.
